August (Gus) Plamann– Volunteer 2016

August (Gus) Plamann is a South Florida native pursuing a bachelor’s degree in natural resource conservation at the University of Florida. With a background in sport fishing, he intends to focus his studies on fishery management, stock enhancement, gamefish biology, and marine habitat restoration. In his free time, Gus enjoys fishing, playing basketball, watching Gators football, and going to the beach whenever he gets the opportunity.


Erangi Heenkenda

Erangi Heenkenda– M.S. Student: 2015 to 2017

Erangi Heenkenda is an islander from Sri Lanka and received a Fulbright scholarship to attend the University of Florida (UF) for her Masters Studies in Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences. She completed her BS in Fisheries and Marine Sciences, with a specialization in Aquaculture from Ruhuna University, Sri Lanka. Currently, she is attached to the Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture, University of Ruhuna as a lecturer. While working as a lecturer, she found her interest in teaching and doing research in the field of marine aquaculture. Her research interests include molecular genetics, cryogenics, germplasm preservation, and molluscan aquaculture. Erangi likes traveling, cooking Sri Lankan foods and gathering with friends in her spare time
